Glacier Experience - Half Day

A fantastic introduction to an enthralling world of ice traversing! Spectacular tracks of only moderate difficulty, and suitable for most agile people. The walk allows you plenty of time to enjoy the impressive terrain on the lower reaches of Franz Josef Glacier on the half day tour.

After being fitted out with boots at the 'office' a 10 minute bus ride takes you to within 3km of the glacier. After a short walk through regenerating rainforest, the trip continues along the glacier valley with your guide explaining the unique features of The Franz Glacier and surrounding environment.

After strapping on a set of Ice Talonz you make your way up the terminal face of the glacier, where pre-formed access ways make exploring the lower reaches of the glacier achievable.

Requirements: You will need non-restrictive clothing on the lower body e.g. quick drying trousers, leggings, very warm clothing for the upper body (2-4 layers), food and drink for the day, sunglasses, sunscreen and camera.
