Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses

Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses was built to give guests a great night's sleep in one the most beautiful places in the world. Located 12 kilometres north of the world renowned eco-marine town of Kaikoura on New Zealand's South Island, Hapuku Lodge shares the 1500 acre property with a deer stud farm, olive grove, fruit orchard and vineyards nestled between the Kaikoura Seaward Mountain Range and famed Mangamaunu Bay.

A contemporary country lodge, Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses is composed of luxury Lodge Suites, Tree Houses built in the canopy of a native Manuka grove and the Olive House Suite. Additionally, the lodge features a spacious outdoor swimming pond, lap swimming pool, pool house with sauna, changing rooms, showers, private room for a range of massage and body treatments and gym.

Accommodation

All rooms at Hapuku Lodge & Tree Houses feature beautiful, custom designed and hand crafted furniture, tailor-made beds and mattresses, European style bathrooms with heated towel rails and floors and rain drop showerheads. The Tree Houses, Lodge Suites and Olive House Suite also have large spa baths and fireplaces. Breathtaking views of snow capped mountains and surf washed coastline are seen from all rooms.

Hapuku Suite: Looks out across the deer paddocks with mountain views. Features an expansive bathroom with a deep Japanese soaking tub for two. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 2 Adults.

Pool Suite: Overlooking the swimming pool, deer paddock and Kaikoura's spectacular mountains and coast. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 3 Adults & Children.

Lodge Suite: Hotel-style luxury suites over 80sq metres in size with separate living and sleeping spaces, large bathrooms and spectacular views. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 3 Adults & Children.

Olive House Suite: Is located just minutes from the main lodge. The top level is the most spacious accommodation choice, an elevated open-plan suite with excellent views of Kaikoura's environment. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds OR 1 King Bed + Bunk Bed. Maximum room capacity is 3 Adults OR 2 Adults & 2 Children.

Nested 10 metres above the ground in the canopy of a native Manuka grove, each Tree House has spectacular views of Kaikoura's dramatic mountains and surf-washed Pacific coastline.

As with the Lodge, the Tree Houses are meant to be a contemporary complement to the natural environment. Their exteriors are clad in native woods and copper shingles. Large windows bring the tree canopy right into the bedroom. We designed the furniture and had it crafted by local woodworking friends.

Upper Branch Tree House: Is a favourite for honeymooners and couples looking for a luxurious tree top stay. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 2 Adults & Children.

Lower Branch Tree House: Is a comfortable choice for those looking to stay in a Tree House on a budget. Bedding is 1 King Bed OR 2 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 3 Adults & Children.

Family Tree House: The two stories of the Family Tree House are composed of an Upper Branch Tree House above a Lower Branch bedroom, joined by an enclosed stairway. Bedding is 2 King Beds OR 4 Single Beds. Maximum room capacity is 5 Adults & Children.

Dining

Focusing on preparing fresh and flavourful food, sourced whenever possible from local purveyors and organic growers with whom Hapuku Lodge often have a direct relationship. With this farm gate to plate philosophy in mind, and in keeping with the environment, the resident chefs create world class food that remains unpretentious and focused on the flavours of fresh quality ingredients.
